Pythius - Abandon

Following an impressive run of releases from the likes of State Of Mind, The Upbeats and most recently Neonlight already in 2014, Black Sun Empire’s genre defining drum & bass imprint ‘Blackout’ are proud to announce newest signing to their already impressive roster -Dutch DJ/producer Pythius. Set to release five-track EP ‘Abandon’ on November 17th, Pythius’ hard-hitting, Neurofunk style builds on Blackout’s reputation for unearthing some of the best up-and-coming producer talent.
Title track ‘Abandon’ goes straight for the jugular with brutal slices of weapons-grade snares and a gritty, unrelenting bass line creating a melee of frenetic beats and melodies. Razor sharp synths punctuate the chaotic breaks of his collaboration with label bosses Black Sun Empire on ‘Desert Sand’, leading a fine-tuned assault on the senses. ‘Air Raid’ continues the warlike theme with more military vocal samples overlaying a bone-shattering bass line, whilst ‘BBT’ channels snarling, brooding synths to bring an almost organic feel to proceedings. Closing track ‘Vermin’ is a machine-like wall of sound, adding a fierce and futuristic tone to an EP that hits hard from start to finish.
With ‘Abandon’, Pythius demonstrates a natural flair for producing hard-edged, peak time drum & bass – a five-tracker that feeds into Blackout’s emphatic, no-holds-barred release policy. Already earning support from the likes of industry stalwarts Ed Rush & Optical, as well as label mates State of Mind and The Upbeats, expect Pythius’s explosive brand of Neurofunk to crash onto dance floors everywhere.
